Day 11 brings a free pattern for a festive sweet treat!
Free candy cane crochet pattern

You will need:
- 1 ball of The Cotton One (Paper White)
- 1 ball of The Cotton One (Red Apple)
- Toy stuffing
- 4.5mm crochet hook
- A sewing needle
Abbreviations (US terminology)
blo - back loop only
ch - chain
hdc - half double crochet (UK terms: htr - half treble crochet)
inc – single crochet twice in the next stitch, also known as an increase stitch
inv dec - invisible decrease - insert hook into the front loop of the next 2 stitches, yarn over and pull through the first 2 loops, yarn over again and pull through the final 2 loops
rem - remain(ing)
rnd(s) – round(s)
sc - single crochet (UK term: dc - double crochet)
ss - slip stitch
st(s) - stitch(es)

The Pattern
The candy cane is worked in the round with color changes.
Using Red Apple, start with a magic ring.
1st rnd: 6 sc into the magic ring. (6 sts)
2nd rnd: inc in every st of the rnd. (12 sts)
3rd rnd: sc in blo all sts.
4th – 5th rnds: sc all sts.
Break off Red Apple, join in Paper White.
6th – 9th rnds: sc all sts.
Break off Paper White, join in Red Apple.
10th – 13th rnds: sc all sts.
Break off Red Apple, join in Paper White.
14th – 17th rnds: sc all sts.
Begin to tightly stuff the candy cane with toy stuffing.
Break off Paper White, join in Red Apple and work the curve of the candy cane as follows:
18th – 21st rnds: ss into the first 6 sts, 6 hdc. (12 sts)
Break off Red Apple, join in Paper White.
22nd – 25th rnds: ss into the first 6 sts, 6 hdc.
Break off Paper White, join in Red apple.
26th – 27th rnds: sc all sts.
28th – 29th rnds: ss into the first 6 sts, 6 hdc.
Break off Red Apple, join in Paper White.
30th – 31st rnds: ss into the first 6 sts, 6 hdc.
32nd rnd: sc all sts.
Fill the remainder of the candy cane with toy stuffing.
33rd rnd: inv dec all sts. (6 sts rem)
Fasten off your last stitch. Leaving approx. 20 cm yarn tail, cut yarn.
Thread your sewing needle with the yarn tail and pass it through each of the rem sts.
Pull tight like a drawstring to completely seal the candy cane.
Weave in any yarn tails.
