You will need:

  • 1 ball of The Cotton One (Forest Green)
  • 1 ball of The Cotton One (Paper White)
  • 1 ball of The Cotton One (Red Apple)
  • Toy stuffing
  • 4.5mm crochet hook
  • A sewing needle

Abbreviations (US terminology)

ch - chain
dc - double crochet (UK terms: tr - treble crochet)
dc-inc – double crochet twice in the next stitch, also known as an increase stitch
inc – single crochet twice in the next stitch, also known as an increase stitch
inv dec - invisible decrease - insert hook into the front loop of the next 2 stitches, yarn over and pull through the first 2 loops, yarn over again and pull through the final 2 loops
rem - remain(ing)
rnd(s) – round(s)
sc - single crochet (UK term: dc - double crochet)
ss - slip stitch
st(s) - stitch(es)

The Pattern

This amigurumi is worked in the round from the bottom up.

Using Red Apple, start with a magic ring. 

1st rnd: 12 dc into magic ring. (12 sts)

Break off Red Apple, join in Paper White.

2nd rnd: dc-inc in every st of the rnd. (24 sts)

Break off Paper White, join in Forest Green.

3rd rnd: Repeat *2 sc, inc* 8 times. (32 sts) 

4th rnd: Repeat *3 sc, inc* 8 times. (40 sts)

Break off Forest Green, join in Paper White.

5th rnd: sc all sts.

Break off Paper White, join in Red Apple. 

6th rnd: sc all sts.

Break off Red Apple, join in Paper White. 

7th rnd: sc all sts.

Break off Paper White, join in Red Apple.

8th – 9th rnds: sc all sts.

10th rnd: Repeat *3 sc, inv dec* 8 times. (32 sts rem) 

11th rnd: sc all sts.

12th rnd: Repeat *2 sc, inv dec* 8 times. (24 sts rem) 

13th rnd: Repeat *1 sc, inv dec* 8 times. (16 sts rem)

Tightly stuff the bauble with toy stuffing before opening becomes too small.

14th rnd: inv dec all sts. (8 sts rem) 

15th – 16th rnds: sc all sts.

Fasten off your last stitch. Leaving approx. 20 cm yarn tail, cut yarn. 

Thread your sewing needle with the yarn tail and pass it through each of the rem sts.

Pull tight like a drawstring to completely seal the bauble.

Weave in any yarn tails.
