The Pattern

This Christmas pudding is crocheted in separate parts, then sewn together.

Frosting

Using Paper White, start with a magic ring.

1st rnd: 6 sc into the magic ring. (6 sts)

2nd rnd: inc in every st of rnd. (12 sts)

3rd rnd: Repeat *1 sc, inc* 6 times (18 sts)

4th rnd: Repeat *2 sc, inc* 6 times (24 sts)

5th rnd: 1 sc, inc, repeat *3 sc, inc* 5 times, 2 sc. (30 sts)

6th – 10th rnds: sc all sts.

The scallop edge of the frosting is worked in the front loop only for one round.

11th rnd: Repeat *sc, skip 2 sts, 5 dc in the flo of same st, skip 2 sts* 5 times, ss to join rnd.

Fasten off your last stitch. Leaving approx. 15cm yarn tail, cut yarn.

Base

Join in Highland Brown in the back loops of the 11th round of the frosting and work the base of your pudding as follows:

1st rnd: ch1, sc all sts in blo of the 11th rnd. (30 sts)

2nd – 3rd rnds: sc all sts.

4th rnd: 2 sc, inv dec, repeat *3 sc, inv dec* 5 times, 1 sc. (24 sts rem)

5th rnd: sc all sts.

6th rnd: Repeat *2 sc, inv dec* 6 times. (18 sts rem)

7th rnd: Repeat *1 sc, inv dec* 6 times. (12 sts rem)

Tightly fill the amigurumi with toy stuffing before opening becomes too small.

8th rnd: inv dec all sts. (6 sts rem)

Fasten off your last stitch. Leaving approx. 20 cm yarn tail, cut yarn.

Thread your sewing needle with the yarn tail and pass it through each of the rem sts.

Pull tight like a drawstring to completely seal the amigurumi.

Berry

Using Red Apple, start with a magic ring.

1st rnd: 6 sc into the magic ring. (6 sts)

2nd rnd: sc all sts.

Fasten off your last stitch. Leaving approx. 20 cm yarn tail, cut yarn.

Thread your sewing needle with the yarn tail and pass it through each of the rem sts.

Pull tight like a drawstring to completely seal the berry.

Leaf (Make 2)

Using Forest Green, make a foundation chain of 6 stitches.

1st rnd: 1 sc in second chain from the hook, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 3 sc in last st.

Turn your work 180 degrees clockwise, and complete your first round by working into the unworked loops of the opposite side of foundation chain.

1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 2 sc, ss to join rnd.

Fasten off your last stitch. Leaving approx. 15cm yarn tail, cut yarn.

Finishing

Sewing up

  1. To attach the berry to the pudding, thread the yarn tail onto the needle, then sew the berry to the top center of the frosting (first round) with a few stitches.
  2. Place the leaf on the left side of the berry, then sew it to the top of the pudding with a few stitches.
  3. Repeat on the other side for the other leaf.
  4. Weave in any yarn tails.
