It’s the main event! Time to crochet the backdrop to your design with the Background granny square pattern.
How to crochet the Background Granny Square

First things first…
You’ll use the Main Color of your chosen color pack to make 98 squares.

Where will they go on my quilt?
These squares will create the background for your flowers and leaves. We’ve used our Spring color palette to make this quilt, so our shade of The Cotton One for Main Color is Paper White. The squares are shown in our finished project here:

The pattern

Round 1
You’ll start by crocheting into a magic ring, then pull on the end of your yarn to close the circle, finishing off with a slip stitch into the 3rd chain from the start of the round.

Round 2
In this round you’ll be creating the first corners for your square.

(2 dc, ch2, 2 dc) in same ch-sp, 3 dc
Round 3
Finish off your square by working a larger border.

(2 dc, ch2, 2 dc) in same ch-sp, 7 dc
