Drawstring Cast Off
Finish Off | 1 min read time
You can use this technique when knitting, to close and secure a ring of stitches. It's the perfect method for closing the crown of your finished hat, or toys you have knitted in the round.
Once you've finished knitting the last row of your pattern, leave the stitches on your knitting needle.
Cut the yarn, leaving a tail following the instructions in your pattern.
Thread the yarn tail onto your sewing needle.
Starting at the stitch furthest away from your yarn tail, run your sewing needle through each stitch on your knitting needle.
Once the yarn has been threaded through each stitch, carefully remove the knitting needle.
Gently pull on the yarn tail to gather the stitches together into a closed circle.
Secure the yarn by tying a knot and weaving in the loose end, or by using the remaining yarn tail to sew the length of your hat together.
