International Women's Day 2018
1 min read time
Today is International Women’s Day and this years theme is a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity. With that in mind we’re championing the achievements of women in business and celebrating Stitch & Story co-founders Jenny and Jen’s journey so far.
Earlier this year Jenny and Jen were selected, as one of thirty companies, to be celebrated in The Department for International Trade’s (DIT) Exporting is GREAT campaign. With the support of DIT, Stitch & Story paved its way into the US market.
This April, Stitch & Story will turn five. From a pop-up market stall in Spitalfields (London) through to exporting internationally Jenny and Jen have maintained the company’s core values:
-
To promote learning by being encouraging, supportive and fun.
-
To embrace new ideas and ways of doing things and help others make the leap.
-
To provide amazing support for our knitters’ aspirations.
-
To share our love of crafting – encouraging others to tell their stories and create remarkable memories.
Stitch & Story is empowering, brave and nurturing. And if we can, you can.
Stitch & Story grew out of a passion for what Jenny and Jen do, and the belief that it matters. At the heart of the company is you, the maker, and the relationships built - through workshops, shows and online. International Women’s Day is about celebrating women’s achievements everywhere, big or small, and being your authentic self.
Jenny and Jen have big plans for the future of Stitch & Story, including growing the online store and translating the products into other languages, while continuing to share their love for craft and promote learning through encouragement, support and fun.
At Stitch & Story we believe ‘you don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great’ (Zig Ziglar).
