Step-by-step guide

Step 1:

Begin by working 6 slip stitches.

Step 2:

We will now work a total of 3 stitches into the front loop of the 7th stitch. First, make one Half Double Crochet (a Half Treble Crochet in UK terminology).

Step 3:

Next, work one Double Crochet (a Treble Crochet in UK terminology).

Step 4:

Finally, make a Treble Crochet (a Double Treble in UK terminology).

Step 5:

In the front loop of the 8th stitch, you will work 3 Treble Crochet stitches (Double Treble Crochet in UK terminology).

Step 6:

For the next stitch we will repeat the steps used in the 7th stitch. Work one Treble Crochet, then one Double Crochet, and finally, one Half Double Crochet.

You have now finished your first scallop!

Step 7:

To keep a neat gap between the scallops, work 2 slip stitches through the front loops.

Step 8:

We will now repeat this sequence to create the second scallop. Through the front loop of your next stitch, work one Half Double Crochet, one Double Crochet, and one Treble Crochet.

Step 9:

In the next stitch, make 3 Treble Crochets through the front loop.

Step 10:

Lastly, in the front loop of the next stitch you will work one Treble Crochet, one Double Crochet, and one Half Double Crochet.

You have now finished your second scallop!

Step 11:

Complete the rest of your row by making 6 slip stitches into the front loops of the row.

Step 12:

Your finished scallops can now be folded over into a neat collar!
